The Canyon, the seventh studio album from The Used, is a deeply personal and raw double-album experience that pushes the boundaries of their post-hardcore roots. Released in 2017 via Hopeless Records, this expansive 78-minute project was produced by the legendary Ross Robinson and recorded without the use of click tracks, resulting in a live, visceral sound that captures the band at their most honest and vulnerable.
Dedicated to the memory of a close friend of frontman Bert McCracken, The Canyon serves as a cathartic exploration of grief and human experience. It marks a significant moment in the band's history as the only studio album to feature guitarist Justin Shekoski. Eschewing slick production for a stripped-back, artful approach, the album is a challenging and rewarding journey for long-time fans.
