Tangerine Dream – The Virgin Years 1977-1983 is an essential 5-CD anthology documenting a pivotal era of evolution for the pioneers of electronic music. Moving beyond their experimental Berlin School roots, this collection charts the band’s transition into a more melodic, structured, and progressive sound.
This comprehensive set captures the group—led by Edgar Froese and Christopher Franke—as they embraced virtuosic electric guitar textures, driving percussion, and the pulsating sequencer beds that became their signature. From the progressive rock sensibilities of Cloudburst Flight to the hypnotic depth of Thru Metamorphic Rocks and the expansive, cinematic scope of Logos and Hyperborea, this collection offers a deep dive into the band's creative transformation.
Collection Highlights:
- Disc 1: Encore
- Disc 2: Force Majeure & Tangram
- Disc 3: Tangram & Exit
- Disc 4: White Eagle & Logos
- Disc 5: Logos & Hyperborea
Whether you are a long-time devotee of their atmospheric space-rock or a newcomer exploring the foundations of modern electronic music, The Virgin Years 1977-1983 serves as the definitive chronicle of Tangerine Dream’s most exploratory and transformative period.
