Simian Mobile Disco’s debut album, Attack Decay Sustain Release, remains a cornerstone of 2007 electronica. Born from the creative partnership of James Ford and Jas Shaw, this record captures the raw, infectious energy the duo cultivated while touring and DJing. Shedding the creative friction of their previous projects, the duo returned to the studio with a simple philosophy: making fun, dance-ready music using nothing but mixing decks and unconventional pedals.
Blending elements of electro-house, acid house, and new rave, the album is a high-octane trip that bridges the gap between experimental sound design and pure club euphoria. It is a nostalgic tip-of-the-hat to the 90s Warp sound, featuring standout guest contributions from the Go! Team’s Ninja and psych-folk vocalist Simon Lord.
Key Highlights:
- Genre: Electro House, Acid House, New Rave, Bloghouse.
- Standout Tracks: Includes the irresistible opener "It's The Beat" and the atmospheric "I Believe."
- Vibe: Punchy, hooky, and relentlessly energetic—a definitive party record.
- Release: Limited Edition CD (Wichita Recordings, 2007).
Whether you’re revisiting the peak of the mid-2000s electro scene or discovering a modern classic, Attack Decay Sustain Release is a masterclass in dancefloor instinct.
