CD Peter Gabriel – Passion (Music For The Last Temptation Of Christ)

Peter Gabriel’s 1989 release, Passion, is much more than a soundtrack; it is a seminal masterwork of world-fusion and ambient textures. Originally composed for Martin Scorsese’s film The Last Temptation of Christ, this album marked a bold artistic pivot for Gabriel following the massive pop success of So.

Recorded at Real World Studios, Gabriel utilized his WOMAD organization to collaborate with a diverse array of African and Arabic musicians. By seamlessly blending traditional instruments like the ney (flute) and qanun (zither) with his signature bombastic production and modern art-rock sensibilities, Gabriel helped define and expand the "world music" genre for a global audience.

• Genre: Art Rock, Global Jazz, and Film Score.
• Standout Tracks: Includes the atmospheric opener "The Feeling Begins" and the emotionally evocative title track "Passion."
• Legacy: Winner of critical acclaim for its ability to bridge cultural sounds with contemporary recording techniques.
• Format: This reissue/repress on Geffen Records maintains the immersive 65-minute journey of the original June 1989 release.

Whether you are a fan of Peter Gabriel’s experimental side or a collector of cinematic scores, Passion remains an essential, relaxing, and deeply moving listening experience.
