Nas – From Illmatic To Stillmatic: The Remixes is a vital 2002 compilation and EP released by Columbia Records. Serving as a bridge between his legendary debut and his triumphant return to form, this CD captures the lyrical prowess of one of hip-hop’s greatest storytellers. Lyrically, Nas remains "always on point," providing fresh perspectives on some of his most iconic tracks.
This release features a curated selection of reimagined favorites that offer a unique listening experience for hardcore fans and collectors alike. Highlights include:
- "Street Dreams (Remix)": Featuring R. Kelly, this version includes new verses from Nas that are archived for hip-hop posterity.
- "Affirmative Action (Remix)": A smooth remake built on the classic piano loop from the Juice Crew’s "The Symphony."
- "One Mic (Remix)": A standout revision produced by Ty Fyffe that blends the intensity of the Stillmatic original with the soulful vibes of Mtume.
- "Life’s A Bitch (Arsenal Mix)": An uptempo take on the Illmatic classic featuring Nas's long-time collaborator AZ.
Whether you are looking to round out your Columbia-era collection or experience the "smooth verbals" of Nas in a new light, this EP is a significant artifact from a pivotal era in East Coast rap history.
