Experience Lou Reed at his most vibrant with American Poet, a fiery live album capturing the rock legend in the prime of his solo career. Originally recorded for New York radio in late 1972—just as the landmark Transformer album was making waves—this 2001 release from Burning Airlines is an essential document for 99% of Lou Reed fans.
The setlist serves as a definitive "Best Of" for the era, blending solo hits with iconic Velvet Underground staples. The performances are noted for being passionate and charged, offering a raw energy that transcends the vintage broadcast sound quality.
Key Tracks & Highlights:- Classic staples including "Walk On The Wild Side," "Satellite of Love," and "Sweet Jane."
- High-voltage Velvet Underground favorites like "Heroin," "I’m Waiting for the Man," and "White Light/White Heat."
- A legendary mid-set interview featuring Reed’s famed "acid-tongued" wit and acerbic humor.
Whether you are a devotee of the 1970s NYC art-rock scene or a newcomer to the "American Poet’s" work, this CD offers a candid, unvarnished look at a mercurial genius delivering the hits that defined a generation.
