Experience a historic live session with Jerry Garcia, Merl Saunders, John Kahn, and Bill Kreutzmann, captured live at Pacific High Studio in San Francisco. Originally broadcast over KSAN-FM on February 6, 1972, this legendary performance marked the first Bay Area radio broadcast of Garcia performing his own music outside of the Grateful Dead.
Recorded in the very studio where Workingman's Dead was tracked, this remastered 2-disc release captures the quartet's signature blend of blues, funk, and soulful rock improvisation. Garcia's expressive, blues-drenched guitar playing shines alongside Saunders' Hammond organ grooves and the rock-solid rhythm section of Kahn and Kreutzmann.
Key Highlights:
- Stretched-out, funky jams including a 9-minute rendition of "Save Mother Earth" and an instrumental take on "I Was Made To Love Her"
- Deep blues workouts like "Who's Loving You Tonight" and a 9+ minute performance of Ray Charles' "Lonely Avenue"
- Timeless favorites including Bob Dylan's "When I Paint My Masterpiece" and the upbeat closer "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)"
Delivering exceptional remastered sound quality, this release is an essential addition for fans and collectors of classic 1970s Jerry Garcia side projects.
