Japan – Oil On Canvas (2003 Remastered Reissue)
Capture the final flourish of one of the most fascinating acts of the late-seventies and early-eighties. Oil On Canvas serves as a poignant swansong for Japan, recorded live just one month before the band parted ways and released posthumously in 1983.
This 2003 Virgin Records reissue features the band at their stylistic peak, masterfully blending swirly synthesizer textures, loping fretless bass, and the elegant vocal delivery of David Sylvian. Rising from the synth-pop fervor of the post-Kraftwerk era, Japan transcended the genre to create a sound that was both atmospheric and uniquely their own.
Key Highlights:
- Original Legacy: A definitive live document capturing the band's sophisticated, art-pop evolution.
- The Sound: Features the band's signature refined synth-pop textures and ice-cold arrangements.
- Edition Details: 2003 Remastered CD release (Copy Protected).
Essential for fans of high-concept synth-pop and those looking to revisit the atmospheric brilliance of one of the UK’s most influential bands.
