Brian Eno – Sonora Portraits is a compelling retrospective and collectible released by the esteemed Italian label Materiali Sonori. Originally issued in 1991 (and later repressed), this compilation serves as a curated journey through Eno’s multifaceted career, blending ambient soundscapes, experimental instrumentals, and rare recordings from several of his most celebrated projects.
The collection is particularly notable for featuring tracks from Eno’s work on Derek Jarman’s Glitterbug, including the elusive ambient pieces "Distant Hill" and "Radiothesia III," as well as the synth-driven "Strawinsky." Fans of his minimalist and collaborative work will also find selections from Music for Films III, The Drop, his collaboration with Jah Wobble on Spinner, and the acclaimed Wrong Way Up with John Cale.
