Released in November 2022 via The Daydream Library Series, Back Home is an expansive, critically acclaimed full-length album from UK post-punk trio Big Joanie. Reuniting with producer Margo Broom, the band broadens their sonic palette for bigger stages, combining muscular guitar riffs with modulating synths, electronic organs, drum machines, and rich atmospheric arrangements.
Lyrically wry and intensely self-reflective, the album traverses themes of relationship conflict, identity, and vulnerability. Highlights include the driving, chugging energy of "Taut," the alluring '80s synth-pop edge on "Sainted," and the slow-burning emotional weight of "I Will." From the soaring violin harmonies on "Today" to dynamic cuts like "Cactus Tree" and "Confident," Back Home delivers an essential modern indie and art-rock listening experience on compact disc.
