Rediscover a long-lost gem of British folk-rock with the digitally remastered CD reissue of Beggars' Hill's self-titled album, released via Talking Elephant Records (TECD156).
Originally recorded in 1976 by a nucleus of musicians based in the Beggars' Hill area of Surrey, the album received only a very limited original vinyl pressing, turning it into a prized collector's rarity. Eclectic and electric in spirit—drawing comparisons to early Fairport Convention—this mid-seventies classic combines traditional sensibilities with inspired folk-rock energy.
Key Album Highlights:
- Exceptional covers of Richard Thompson favourites: "The New St George" and "Poor Ditching Boy"
- A brilliant, enchanting rendition of Sandy Denny’s "Who Knows Where the Time Goes"
- A spot-on adaptation of the traditional staple "Wild Rover"
Finally given a long-deserved reissue on CD, this obscure classic is an essential addition to any classic UK folk and folk-rock collection.
