As It Is takes a bold, transformative leap with their third studio album, The Great Depression. Released on August 10, 2018, via Fearless Records, this ambitious concept album marks a departure from the band’s earlier bright, pop-pierced sound, venturing into a darker and more aggressive sonic territory.
Structured around the four stages of grief—Denial, Anger, Bargaining, and Acceptance—the record offers a raw and confrontational exploration of mental health. Rather than offering easy solutions, the album aims at society's quiet corners with intense soul and passion. Tracks like "The Handwritten Letter" showcase the band’s willingness to "rock and rage," featuring heavy percussive beats and combustible lyrical content.
Key Features:
- Genre-Defying Sound: A shift toward heavier, melancholic, and edgy alternative rock.
- Thematic Depth: A conceptual journey through the psychological stages of grief and depression.
- Emotional Delivery: Heartfelt, raw vocals backed by intense, combustible energy.
- Format: High-quality CD release in professional packaging.
Whether you're a long-time fan or new to their evolution, The Great Depression stands as a definitive, polarizing, and deeply emotional chapter in the As It Is discography.
