Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment is the profound final studio album from the influential indie rock outfit Bad Astronaut. Released in 2006 via Fat Wreck Chords, this record serves as a poignant, heartfelt elegy for the band’s late drummer and co-creator, Derrick Plourde.
As the band’s only release comprised entirely of original material, the album captures frontman Joey Cape at his most emotionally raw. Despite the tragic circumstances surrounding its creation, the album remains a testament to the band’s versatility and enduring creative spirit. Balancing deeper, melancholic themes with signature indie rock sensibilities, it stands as a vital and moving bookend to the band’s story.
