CD Ultravox – Revelation

Ultravox – Revelation (Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin, 1993)

Released in 1993, Revelation marks a unique chapter in the Ultravox discography. Instrumentalized by original keyboardist and violinist Billy Currie, this album features a revamped lineup with Tony Fenelle taking over lead vocals. It stands as the only studio recording produced by this specific iteration of the group during their early-90s era.

Departing from the "New Romantic" and synth-heavy sound that defined their 1980s success, Revelation embraces the production aesthetics of the early 1990s. The album explores a blend of dance-pop and contemporary radio-friendly textures, shifting the band's focus toward a more commercial, pop-oriented direction.

Key Highlights:

• Unique Lineup: The only studio album to feature vocalist Tony Fenelle alongside Billy Currie.
• Genre Shift: A transition from classic symphonic power-pop to early-90s dance-pop and generic pop influences.
• Production: Features Currie’s trademark sophisticated arrangements and classical influences integrated with electronic beats.
• Notable Tracks: Includes the opening track "I Am Alive" and represents a bridge to the band's subsequent release, Ingenuity.

For collectors and completists, this Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin CD pressing is an essential piece of the Ultravox evolution, capturing the band as they navigated the changing musical landscape of the 1990s.
