Experience the definitive era of electronic pioneers Tangerine Dream with The Virgin Years 1974-1978. This comprehensive 3-CD box set gathers the band’s first five legendary releases for the Virgin label in full, remastered form. Unlike a standard "greatest hits," this compilation preserves the integrity of the original compositions, offering an immersive journey through the "Berlin School" of progressive electronic music.
The collection captures the band's evolution from expansive, sequencer-driven soundscapes to more structured, melodic arrangements. This set includes five landmark albums:
- Phaedra (1974): A masterpiece of atmospheric, cosmic textures.
- Rubycon (1975): A deep, evolving exploration of synthesizer innovation.
- Ricochet (1975): Capturing the band’s dynamic live energy.
- Stratosfear (1976): A shift toward richer melodic layers.
- Cyclone (1978): Furthering their experimentation with new instrumental dimensions.
This box set is augmented with rare bonus material, including 7-inch edits, single B-sides, and two vintage radio adverts. With markedly improved sound quality that reveals luminous synth textures, this release is a highly recommended acquisition for both dedicated collectors and those new to the ambient and progressive electronic genres.
