Experience the genesis of electronic music with Nebulous Dawn (The Early Years), a comprehensive three-disc compilation from Castle Music. This 2006 release meticulously documents the first six years of Tangerine Dream, tracing the visionary path of Edgar Froese and his ensemble from their 1967 debut through the early 1970s.
This collection captures the band at their most experimental, unmooring psychedelia from its rock roots to create something entirely new. Listeners can explore the group’s nascent spirit through lengthy, hypnotic passages and deep atmospheric soundscapes. The set highlights include the expansive 22-minute title track, which showcases the band's transition from psychedelic exploration toward their definitive electronic direction.
Key features of this release:
- Comprehensive 3-CD Set: Assembles critical material from the band’s formative period (1967–1973).
- Evolution of Sound: Features the hypnotic, calming, and experimental tracks that defined early Berlin School electronics.
- Historical Significance: A solid document of the group’s "Early Years," revealing the first signs of their legendary status in the genre.
Whether you are a longtime devotee or a newcomer to Krautrock history, Nebulous Dawn serves as an essential archive of the atmospheric innovation that changed music forever.
