Following his acclaimed performance originating the titular role in Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen, award-winning vocalist and actor Ben Platt made his solo debut with the 2019 studio album, Sing To Me Instead. Released via Atlantic Records, this project marked an intimate, vulnerable shift as Platt stepped up to the piano to sing his own truths straight from the heart.
Channeling the storytelling traditions of classic singer-songwriters and soul legends—ranging from Joni Mitchell and Carole King to Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder—the album delivers confessional lyricism alongside raw, powerful pop vocals. Across a cohesive narrative, Sing To Me Instead chronicles the emotional highs, heartbreak, and transformation of a romantic relationship.
