Underworld – Hit Collection 2000 is an essential discovery for fans of electronic music’s most influential architects. This unofficial compilation, released by DJ's Club Records, captures the British duo at the peak of their global impact following the massive success of their late-90s output.
Spanning the definitive era between Second Toughest in the Infants and Beaucoup Fish, this collection highlights the group's transition from underground pioneers to festival-headlining titans. Known for their expansive, immersive arrangements, Underworld’s signature style often features tracks exceeding the six-to-ten-minute mark, offering a hypnotic blend of techno, house, and progressive electronica.
Key tracks from this era include:
- Born Slippy .Nuxx – The generation-defining anthem.
- Push Upstairs – A driving hit from their 1999 discography.
- King of Snake – A masterclass in rhythmic intensity.
- Jumbo – Showcasing their melodic, ambient-leaning sensibilities.
- Cowgirl – A consistent live favorite and club classic.
Whether you are a completist or a newcomer to the hypnotic vocals of Karl Hyde and the production mastery of Rick Smith, this release serves as a high-energy snapshot of a duo that redefined the boundaries of electronic music at the turn of the millennium.
