Capture the electric energy of Ultravox at their creative zenith with BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert. Recorded in London in 1981 and released by Windsong International in 1992, this album serves as a definitive time capsule of the band’s iconic transition into the Midge Ure era.
The performance features a high-octane set-list primarily drawn from the seminal Vienna period. Fans will appreciate the unique track sequencing that differs from the studio releases, offering fresh perspective on classic synth-pop anthems. Highlights include powerful renditions of "The Thin Wall" and "Vienna," where the band delivers "meaty" percussion and emotive vocal performances that bristle with live energy.
Release Highlights:
- Authentic BBC Recording: Originally broadcast by the BBC, ensuring a professional and clear-sounding capture of the 1981 London show.
- Sonic Clarity: While maintaining the raw atmosphere of a live gig, the mastering offers impressive clarity, particularly in the rhythmic interplay between the guitar and synthesizers.
- Genre Significance: A must-have document for enthusiasts of New Wave and Electronic Rock, showcasing the band’s peak "New Romantic" sound.
Whether you are a completist or a casual fan, this CD provides an essential, punchy snapshot of one of Britain's most influential bands performing at the height of their powers.
