Rediscover the glam rock mastery of The Sweet with this 1998 2CD compilation, Solid Gold Sweet, released by Recall. As one of the most influential melodic hard rock bands of the 1970s, The Sweet defined an era with their unique vocal harmonies, superior songwriting, and powerful, catchy guitar riffs.
This comprehensive collection showcases the band's transition from Top 40 pop sensations to a formidable rock'n'roll force. Known for their high-energy performances and polished studio production, the classic lineup of Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Mick Tucker, and Andy Scott delivers a sound that remains remarkably fresh today. Their influence can still be heard in modern rock, with their tracks frequently covered by contemporary artists.
Featured Highlights:
- Includes definitive anthems and fan favorites like "The Six Teens" and "Solid Gold Brass."
- Explores the band’s versatility, featuring their hard-rocking instrumentation and signature "poppy yet powerful" guitar work.
- A deep dive into the catalog of a band that served as a primary inspiration for the 1970s and 80s rock scenes.
Whether you are a longtime fan of the glam rock era or a collector of classic 70s hard rock, Solid Gold Sweet is an essential addition to your music library, proving why The Sweet remains a "solid gold" staple of rock history.
