The Asteroid No.4 deliver a masterclass in neo-psychedelia with their fifth studio album, These Flowers Of Ours – A Treasury Of Witchcraft And Devilry. Released via The Committee To Keep Music Evil, this record represents a creative pinnacle for the band, blending shoegaze textures with the melodic sensibilities of late '60s psychedelia and early '90s British indie.
Across the album, the band navigates a lush landscape of reverb, echo, and fuzz, drawing comparisons to genre titans like Ride, The Stone Roses, and My Bloody Valentine. From the dreamy, Neil Young-influenced opener "My Love" to the droney experimentation of "Hei Nah Lah," the album showcases superior songwriting and polished production that transcends simple genre tributes.
Key Tracks & Highlights:- "I Look Around": A standout track featuring '60s pop influences and an organ-driven guitar solo.
- "She Touched The Sky": A powerful invocation of classic shoegaze walls of sound.
- "War": An expansive, emotive jam featuring soothingly distorted guitar progressions.
- "Hold On" & "Flowers of Ours": Prime examples of the band’s ability to mix space-rock ambition with irresistible Brit-pop hooks.
For fans of ethereal textures and authentic psychedelic exploration, this release is a testament to the band’s persistence and artistic innovation in the modern psych scene.
