Experience the timeless artistry of Texas with their tenth studio album, Hi.
Released in 2021, Hi sees the Scottish alternative rock icons in peak form. Initially conceived as a project to revisit "lost" outtakes from their classic 1997 album White on Blonde, the session evolved into something entirely fresh, resulting in a vibrant collection that feels like reuniting with an old friend. The album showcases the band's continued musical evolution, blending vintage R&B, authentic country, and brawny guitar-pop with a newfound sense of luxuriousness.
Sharleen Spiteri’s vocals remain as soulful and nuanced as ever, perfectly complemented by guest appearances from RZA, Ghostface Killah, and Clare Grogan. Critics have hailed the record as an artistic triumph that stands proudly alongside the band's thirty-year legacy.
Key Highlights:
- Standout Tracks: Includes the title track "Hi," the Motown-inspired "Mr Haze," "Moonstar," "You Can Call Me," and "Unbelievable."
- Genre-Defying Sound: A masterclass in genre experimentation, moving seamlessly from Italo-western vibes to emotional, hard-hitting pop.
- Collaborations: Features creative contributions from RZA, Ghostface Killah, Clare Grogan, and Richard Hawley.
- Label: BMG
Whether you're a long-time fan or discovering the band anew, Hi is an essential addition to any collection—an album that proves Texas has lost none of the potency that set them apart in 1989.
