CD Orbital – Diversions

Orbital – Diversions (FFRR, 1994)

Released in 1994 as a supplement to the legendary "Brown Album," Diversions captures Orbital at the peak of their most "fiery and aggressive" era. This essential EP acts as a definitive bridge between the duo’s early club-driven instincts and the complex, intellectual arrangements that would later define Snivilisation. For fans of the Hartnoll brothers, this collection represents the pinnacle of their mid-90s sound, cementing their status as premier live performers following their historic sets at Glastonbury and Woodstock '94.

Rather than simple remixes, Diversions offers expansive, reimagined versions and John Peel session recordings that bring the energy of their live performances to the studio. From the drifting acid-house textures of "Lush 3" to the over-ten-minute powerhouse "Impact USA," this EP is a masterclass in techno and trance evolution.

Tracklist:

• Impact USA (The Earth Is Burning: Diversion) (11:21)
• Lush 3 (Euro Tunnel Disaster '94) / Walk About (John Peel sessions) (14:35)
• Semi Detached (09:32)
• Lush 3-5 (C.J. Bolland) (06:14)
• Lush 3-4 Warrior Drift (Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia) (10:48)

Whether you are a completist or a newcomer to the 90s electronic scene, this EP is a mathematically assured essential for anyone who values the rhythmic soul of British techno.
