Nídia’s 2017 full-length debut on Lisbon’s vanguard Príncipe label, Nídia É Má, Nídia É Fudida (loosely translating to "Nídia is bad, Nídia is dope"), is a thrilling distillation of modern batida and hyper-kinetic Afro-Portuguese club sounds. Combining her roots in Lisbon's Vale da Amoreira with Bordeaux-honed production, Nídia crafts short, explosive tracks that seamlessly fuse kuduro, tarraxo, and forward-thinking digital electronics.
The record balances riotous percussion with striking melodic emotion. Standout moments include the triumphant ring-walk swagger of opener "Mulher Profissional," the jagged guitar textures and dissonant balance of "Underground," the fractured piano loops of "I Miss My Ghetto," and the laser-precise rhythmic lattice of "É da Banda" and "House Musik Dedo."
CD Edition Features:
- Packaged in a jewel case with a 4-page booklet.
- Includes 3 exclusive CD bonus tracks: "Kilobo," "Shane Noah," and the slow-burning live staple "Sinistro."
