Serving as a comprehensive retrospective and inadvertent farewell, In A Word (Earache Records, 1995) captures British noise-metal juggernauts Fudge Tunnel across their crushing 1989–1994 run. Packed with rare, unreleased, and live material, this compilation highlights the Alex Newport-led outfit at their most ferocious and dynamic.
The core of the release is anchored by seven standout tracks recorded across two legendary John Peel sessions in 1990 and 1992. From the swaggering, high-octane groove of their early material to the disciplined, abrasive rhythmic assault of their later era, this collection demonstrates Fudge Tunnel's mastery of heavy, hook-laden noise rock and alternative metal.
Key Features:
- Peel Session Cuts: Includes hard-hitting tracks such as "Sex Mammoth," "Bed Crumbs," "Good Kicking," and "Tipper Gore."
- Live & Rare Archives: Features unhinged live recordings from a Danish festival alongside sought-after studio rarities.
- Essential '90s Earache Release: A must-have document for devotees of sludge metal, noise rock, and 1990s underground heavy music.
