Eagles Of Death Metal return with Heart On, their third studio installment released via Downtown Music in 2008. Combining the sleazy, leather-coated swagger of classic rock with an infectious, danceable groove, this album finds Jesse "The Devil" Hughes and Josh Homme perfecting their signature "sleaze rock" sound with beefy, forceful production that leaps beyond their previous efforts.
The album is a masterclass in tongue-in-cheek machismo and blues-inflected rock. From the soaring falsetto vocals to the "good ol’ boys" guitar riffs, Heart On balances high-energy anthems with chill, mid-tempo tracks that never lose their catchy edge. Critics have described the record as a cross between The Rolling Stones and Kiss, delivering a sound that is both basic and thoroughly enjoyable.
Key Tracks:
- "Anything ‘Cept the Truth" – A groove-heavy opener featuring superb vocal blending and a riff that commands attention.
- "Wanna Be in L.A." – The lead single, noted for its upbeat, jazzy feel and tribal-influenced rhythmic moans.
- "Now I’m a Fool" – A standout, "addictive" slow-burn that showcases the band's ability to blend simplicity with serious songwriting.
- "Secret Plans" – A danceable favorite featuring simple, effective riffs and driving drum beats.
Whether you're looking for "sexed-up" rock compositions or just a record that doesn't take itself too seriously, Heart On is an essential addition to any desert rock or garage-rock collection.
