Death From Above 1979 returns with Is 4 Lovers, the fourth studio album from the powerhouse Toronto duo. Released in 2021 via Spinefarm Records and Universal Music Canada, this project signals a bold evolution in their signature sound. For the first time, Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler took full creative control, producing the album entirely on their own.
Clocking in at a lean 31 minutes, Is 4 Lovers is a masterclass in Dance-Punk. The record has been hailed by critics for its "sonically vibrant" and "robust" production. NME described it as their best work since their iconic debut, noting that while the band still "packs a punch," this release offers a more colorful and nuanced approach to their gritty aesthetic.
Key Features & Highlights:- Lead Single: Includes the standout track "One + One."
- Critical Acclaim: Received a "Generally Favorable" score of 71 on Metacritic, including 4-star reviews from AllMusic and NME.
- DIY Production: Self-produced by the band, capturing an authentic, raw energy.
- Format: High-quality CD release in a standard jewel case or digipak (as issued by Spinefarm).
Whether you are a longtime fan of their overdriven bass riffs or a newcomer to the dance-punk scene, Is 4 Lovers is an essential addition to any modern rock collection.
