Rediscover the haunting, ethereal roots of a legendary Irish collective with Clannad – Beginnings: The Best of the Early Years.
Released in 2008 by Music Club Deluxe, this essential compilation captures the transformative period when the Brennan family first emerged from their father’s tavern in Gweedore to redefine the landscape of Celtic music. Before they became international icons of the "new age" and folk-pop genres, Clannad was deeply rooted in a traditional Irish sound, blending ancient Gaelic language and heritage with subtle rock and jazz textures.
This collection highlights the band’s formative brilliance, featuring beloved tracks that became staples of their live performances. It serves as an evocative journey back to the foundation of a sound that would later captivate the world.
Key Highlights:
- Authentic Origins: Includes timeless traditional favorites such as "Dúlamán," "Teidhir Abhaile Riú," and "Coinleach Glas an Fhómhair."
- A Legacy of Sound: Showcases the early, unearthly arrangements that paved the way for the band's later global success with "Theme from Harry’s Game."
- Collector’s Essential: An archival look into the early 1970s era of the family group that introduced Irish-language song to a worldwide audience.
Experience the spirit, clarity, and tradition that defined the early years of one of Ireland’s most distinctive musical families.
