Rediscover the genius of Antonio Salieri in this definitive 2003 release from Decca. Cecilia Bartoli: The Salieri Album finds the world-renowned mezzo-soprano turning her formidable talent toward the works of the man historically overshadowed by the myth of his rivalry with Mozart. With the masterful support of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, conducted by Adam Fischer, Bartoli breathes new life into these sophisticated, rarely heard arias.
Known for her ferocious panache and technical brilliance, Bartoli delivers a performance that is both vocally challenging and artistically profound. She showcases an impressive range, balancing muscular coloratura with the delicate, yearning lyricism required for pieces like the achingly beautiful “Vieni a me sull’ ali d’oro” from Amida.
