Candlemass return to the throne of Doom Metal with their 2022 opus, Sweet Evil Sun. Released via Napalm Records, this album marks a triumphant "back-to-basics" approach, trading experimental flourishes for the crushing, unmistakable weight that only these Swedish legends can deliver.
With Johan Längqvist sounding more comfortable and authoritative than ever, the band channels the spirit of their 80s era while maintaining a modern, monolithic edge. From the thunderous opening riff of “Wizard of the Vortex” to the Hammond-drenched mastery of “Goddess,” Sweet Evil Sun captures the band at their most consistent and foreboding.
