Experience the timeless allure of "Lady Day" with Holiday Romance, a sophisticated compilation released by Dynamic Entertainment Ltd. This collection captures Billie Holiday during her most influential era, featuring the recordings that defined the "Classic Decade" of jazz and swing (1935–1945).
Widely regarded as the definitive voice of jazz, Holiday’s performances here showcase her signature "sweet and elusive" vocal style and unrivaled emotional depth. Backed by a roster of legendary musicians, including tenor saxophonist Lester Young, pianist Teddy Wilson, and trumpet player Buck Clayton, these tracks demonstrate why Frank Sinatra cited Holiday as one of his greatest musical mentors.
Featured Highlights:
- Includes the swinging groove of Cole Porter’s "Easy to Love," featuring the rhythmic mastery of Gene Krupa.
- Stunning renditions of "A Fine Romance" and the tender "Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man."
- Soulful performances of Irving Berlin’s "This Year’s Kisses" and the high-note mastery of "He’s Funny That Way."
Whether you are a lifelong aficionado or new to the genre, this CD offers an essential window into the artistry of a woman who didn't just sing love songs—she lived them. Add this cornerstone of vocal jazz to your collection today.
