Immerse yourself in Ben Frost’s powerful first musical theater piece with The Wasp Factory, released in 2016 on Bedroom Community. Created in collaboration with librettist David Pountney, this contemporary opera is a bold adaptation of Iain Banks’ 1984 psychological horror novel, capturing the chilling, ritualistic world of its isolated protagonist, Frank.
Merging avant-garde contemporary opera, post-industrial, and experimental electronic soundscapes, Frost constructs dense, acoustical narratives filled with raw tension and striking dynamism. The record moves through an arresting emotional arc—from dark, crushing depths to stark climactic power.
