Released in 1999, The Doctor is a defining dancehall masterpiece from legendary Jamaican deejay Beenie Man. Serving as the direct follow-up to his experimental breakthrough Many Moods of Moses, this release delivered a celebrated return to a traditional, straight-ahead dancehall sound—solidifying his dominance and capturing the #1 position on the U.S. Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart.
Engineered with the winning dancehall formula of sizzling beats and Beenie Man’s signature booming vocals, the album features stellar production from industry heavyweights including Patrick Roberts, The Shocking Vibes Crew, Steely & Clevie, and Danny Browne.
Featured Highlights:
- "Bookshelf" & "Battery Dolly" – High-energy, quintessential late-'90s dancehall anthems.
- "Tell Me" – A smooth crossover track simmering with hip-hop flavor courtesy of Angie Martinez.
- "Do That to Me One More Time" – An ingenious dancehall transformation of the '70s Captain & Tennille classic, enriched with velvety harmonies by Little Kirk.
A must-have staple for 90s dancehall enthusiasts and reggae collectors, The Doctor captures Beenie Man at the absolute peak of his craft.
