Prepare for a masterclass in blackened thrash with Aura Noir’s 2012 release, Out to Die. Released via Indie Recordings, this album showcases the Norwegian veterans at their most confident, blending aggressive, crusty thrash riffs with the dark, barbaric attitude of true black metal.
Staying true to their Celtic Frost and Sodom roots, Aura Noir delivers a sound defined by thugging rhythms, pounding percussion, and viciously solid vocals. Rather than relying on a relentless barrage of blast beats, the band maneuvers through a variety of tempos—from the tribal-inspired intensity of "Trenches" to the brooding, doom-laden atmosphere of "The Grin From the Gallows."
Key Highlights:
- Genre: Blackened Thrash Metal
- Label: Indie Recordings
- Standout Tracks: Includes the visceral "Trenches," the doom-influenced "The Grin From the Gallows," and the high-energy "Mordant Wind."
- Sound Profile: A tight, thirty-minute ride of hellish, headbanging anthems that prioritize riff-craft and a take-no-prisoners attitude.
Whether you are a longtime follower of the "grave robbers" or a newcomer to their hellish sound, Out to Die is a solid, essential addition to any extreme metal collection.
