Experience a cornerstone of 90s psychedelic electronica with Astralasia’s 1994 masterpiece, Whatever Happened To Utopia? released under the cult-favorite Magick Eye Records. This limited edition release is a comprehensive multi-media package, featuring the full album alongside a bonus CD single, making it a must-have for collectors of the genre.
Known for their roots in the Magic Mushroom Band, Astralasia perfectly blends the boundaries of ambient trance and space-rock. This record is widely celebrated for its "chill-out" qualities, yet it remains musically adventurous, drawing comparisons to the challenging, swirling instrumental tones of Hawkwind. It is often described as "pure brain food"—a sonic journey that transitions from deep, atmospheric textures to pulsating, rhythmic energy.
Key Highlights:- Genre: Ambient Trance, Space Rock, Psychedelic.
- Format: Limited Edition Double CD (Album + Single).
- Sonic Profile: A blend of "spaced out" instrumentals, swirly organs, and rhythmic percussion.
- Legacy: Regarded as a "pure class" release that captures the peak of the 90s UK psych-trance scene.
Whether you are seeking a deep-listening experience to "chill to" or an "awesome trip" through layered electronic landscapes, Whatever Happened To Utopia? stands as a definitive statement in Astralasia's expansive discography.
