Asgaroth - Red Shift (Peaceville, 2004 Reissue)
Experience the definitive edition of Red Shift, the landmark album from Barcelona’s premier extreme metal export. Originally recorded in 2000 and later picked up for worldwide distribution by Peaceville, this 2004 reissue is presented in a premium digipak format and features enhanced material, cementing the album's legacy as a masterpiece of "cinematic metal."
Moving away from their earlier keyboard-heavy black metal roots, Asgaroth underwent a stunning metamorphosis on Red Shift. The album showcases a sophisticated fusion of blackened doom and death metal, characterized by brutal growls, dense riffing, and intelligent, thoughtful lyricism. Despite the shift toward a heavier sound, the band maintains their signature atmosphere through the expert use of electronic effects and layered keyboards.
Key Highlights:
- Acclaimed Production: A crystal-clear mix that allows every instrument—from the crushing guitars to the intricate synth work—to shine.
- Award-Winning Pedigree: Hailed by fans and critics alike, the album earned Asgaroth accolades for "Best Band" and "Best Album" in Spain’s Hell Awaits readers' poll.
- Unique Sonic Blend: A perfect balance for fans who appreciate the aggression of death metal without sacrificing atmospheric depth and melodic complexity.
This 2004 Enhanced CD reissue is an essential addition for collectors seeking the point where aggression meets avant-garde artistry.
