Apoptygma Berzerk – The Apopcalyptic Manifesto (Metropolis Records)
Dive into the foundational era of Futurepop with The Apopcalyptic Manifesto, a comprehensive collection of Apoptygma Berzerk’s greatest hits and rare tracks. This essential compilation spans five years of the band's influential back catalogue, capturing the evolution of Stephan Groth’s signature sound from raw underground origins to polished club anthems.
The release serves as a definitive archive for both new listeners and die-hard fans, featuring material gathered from long out-of-print 12" singles, EPs, and early albums. From the gritty, hardware-driven textures of their 1991 debut tracks to the melodic, synth-pop-infused energy that defined the Scandinavian electronic scene, this compilation offers a holistic view of the project’s dark yet danceable manifesto.
Key Tracks Include:
- Deep Red and Bitch – Club-ready staples of the genre.
- Ashes to Ashes – Featured in both the German Slam and Original 12" versions.
- Burning Heretics – A look back at the band's earliest sonic experiments.
- Spiritual Reality and Electronic Warfare – Showcasing the project’s mastery of electronic atmosphere.
Whether you are replacing worn-out vinyl or discovering these tracks for the first time, this Metropolis Records CD is a vital piece of industrial/synth-pop history.
