Alina Orlova returns with Nakties Atvirukai (Night Postcards), a mesmerizing 11-track collection that cements her status as one of the most inventive voices in contemporary folk. Released via Creative Industries in 2025, this album is a self-reflective journey through "melancholic waters of hope and bittersweet escapistic illusions."
The record showcases Orlova’s most adventurous production to date, blending heart-wrenching ballads with groove-laden sensibilities and experimental flourishes. Moving between delicate piano melodies and thick, fog-like arrangements, Orlova’s vocals—ranging from soaring emotional peaks to subtle spoken-word interludes—serve as a beacon through the record's "nightly" atmosphere. Critics have drawn comparisons to the ethereal aura of Kate Bush, noting the album’s ability to convey deep universal fears and desires across both Lithuanian and English lyrics.
Key Tracks:
- Širdys Ir Strėlės: A haunting, stripped-back piano opener.
- Kažkur Toli: A bluesy, steady-rhythm standout featuring cacophonous guitar.
- Amygdala: A sultry, slow-swaying dive into "stormy dreams."
- Sedate Me: A subtle '60s-inspired freakout exploring the narcotic nature of love.
- Ir Aušta: A dreamlike conclusion to this evocative sonic journey.
