Alice Cooper returns to his shock-rock throne with Along Came A Spider (2008). This gripping concept album marks a triumphant return to form, re-establishing the legendary rocker as the master of the macabre. Moving away from lighter territory, Cooper delivers a heavy, theatrical experience that ranks among the most sinister in his storied discography.
The album tells the haunting tale of "Spider," an obsessed serial killer. Musically, it masterfully blends the hard-rock edge of The Last Temptation with the gritty, post-apocalyptic intensity of Brutal Planet, evoking the spirit of classic concept albums like Welcome To My Nightmare.
Key Highlights:
- Cinematic Storytelling: A dark, immersive concept revolving around a serial killer’s twisted games.
- Standout Tracks: Includes the instant classic "Wrapped In Silk," the powerful ballad "Salvation," and guitar-driven anthems like "Wake The Dead" and "I’m Hungry."
- A Heavy Reinvention: Features a revitalized, heavier musical backing that perfectly complements Cooper’s theatrical vocals.
Whether you are a longtime fan of Cooper’s classic era or a fan of modern shock rock, Along Came A Spider is an essential, high-energy addition to any rock collection.
